The Guided and SKILD course is a specialized professional development and certification program designed by the SKILD Center (Smart Kids with Individual Learning Differences) in collaboration with Life Long Learning Center – NDU
It is specifically tailored to bridge the gap between general education and special education, ensuring that professionals and leaders have the practical tools to create inclusive environments.
1. Core Mission
The program aims to transform “awareness” into “action.” While many people know inclusion is important, this course teaches them how to actually implement it in schools, universities, and the workplace.
2. Target Audience
It is designed for a wide range of stakeholders, including:
Educators and School Leaders: To improve classroom management and academic support.
Special Educators: To refine their specialized intervention techniques.
Community & NGO Leaders: To understand how to lead organizations that respect and accommodate children with challenges.
Parents: To better advocate for their children’s needs.
3. Key Learning Pillars
The curriculum usually covers four essential areas:
Curriculum Adaptation: How to modify lessons so that a student with learning difficulties can reach the same educational goals as their peers.
Therapeutic Insights: Understanding the roles of Speech and Psychomotor therapy in a child’s development and how these can be supported in a classroom setting.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Focusing on the mental health and emotional resilience of students, helping them navigate social challenges.
Emerging Technologies: Using assistive tech and digital tools to help students overcome physical or cognitive barriers to learning.
4. Impact and Goal
By the end of the course, participants are “equipped” rather than just “informed.” They leave with a “toolkit” of strategies to ensure that no child is left behind and that every individual—regardless of their learning difference—is treated with dignity and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
