Through inclusive events, children with special needs develop and generate social skills and relationships with the community. SKILD in partnership with HOPE Worldwide Lebanon hosted a costume party to Shine the Light of these kids. The night was filled with games, singing, dancing, puppet shows, and prizes. The purpose of this event was to bring together children from the community who are often excluded from such social events. However, through this inclusive event, we wanted to give them a unique opportunity to share joyful festive experiences, build friendships, develop their emotional capacity, and increase their interpersonal skills. The event was initiated through the Parent2Parent support group at SKILD, which recognizes that parents of children with special needs also need events like these to nourish their own communities of support.
