A Special Salute to the IDEAL Program Graduates at Notre Dame University’s Class of 2024 Graduation

The Notre Dame University (NDU) graduation ceremony of 2024 was a joyous occasion, marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work for all graduates. But amidst the well-deserved celebrations, a special group deserves an extra round of applause: the graduating class of the IDEAL Program.

The IDEAL Program is a unique initiative at NDU designed to empower students with special needs by providing them with the academic support, social integration, and life skills necessary to thrive in a university setting. This year’s graduating class, brimming with talent and determination, exemplifies the program’s remarkable success.

Overcoming Challenges, Achieving Dreams

IDEAL students face unique challenges in the academic world. The program addresses these challenges by offering personalized instruction, mentorship, and access to internship opportunities. The IDEAL Program also goes beyond academics. It fosters a spirit of inclusion, creating a supportive community where students with special needs feel valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Uplifting Message from Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi

This year’s ceremony was elevated by the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, who delivered the keynote address.  His Beatitude addressed the graduates and assembled crowd, expressing his delight in participating in the graduation ceremony of the “esteemed and beloved” Notre Dame University-Louaize. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their proud families, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the university’s president, administration, and faculty in making this momentous day possible.

In a message filled with hope and inspiration, His Beatitude went on to commend the university for its exceptional commitment to inclusion by offering a dedicated program for students with learning differences through the IDEAL Program. He continued by saying: “We sincerely hope this serves as a model for all universities in Lebanon. Every child deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education, and every student should have the right to graduate on their own terms

Looking Ahead: A Beacon of Hope

SKILD and NDU celebrate the achievements of the 2024 IDEAL graduates with immense pride. Their stories are a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with the right support and a commitment to inclusion, individuals with special needs can achieve remarkable things. NDU remains committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students, and the IDEAL Program serves as a shining example of this dedication.
